A year worth remembering was 2017 for the Indian team that ended without losing bilateral series, except for the T20I against West Indies. Against 53 matches, the men in Blue got 37 wins, acquiring a 70 percentage win. The Indian cricket team played majority in Sri Lanka, at home, and in the Carribean islands. However, the Indian team will have on 201i tours to Australia and South Africa. The schedule is to play around 47 matches in 2018. The rank one in Tests and ODIs are with Indian cricket team and it ranks third in T20Is, have fielded in the past year’s many players. The Indian cricket team roster has players who are around and these cricketers are adept to long game formats and not successful in T20Is and ODIs.
In fact, Chateshwar Pujara and Ishant Sharma are playing for a couple of years in the Tests but are not included in limited over games and now they stand unsold in the auctions of IPL
On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin are from the Indian squad appearing in all formats. Spinners such as Jadeja, Ashwin, Yuzvvendra Chahal, and Kuldeep Yadav play only for Tests.
The ODI Indian squad has observed a lot of changes in the recent years. Ashwin and Jadeja are not favored with the entry of Kuldeep and Chaha6l. There is an inclusion in the bowling department with Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur, while in the batting; Shreyas Iyer is the new inclusion.
Ms. Dhoni plays in T20Is and ODIs, though he retired in 2014 from Tests, while Dinesh Karthik is also time and again in India’s squad. The T20I squad has seen many IPL stars and other youngsters making the debut. In the past year, the T20I squad has few names included Shreyas Iyer, Washington Sundar, Jaydev Unadkat and Mohammed Siraj.
Grade A: Batsman –Ajinkya Rahane, Chateshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Murali Vijay and Ms. Dhoni( also wicketkeeper), Allrounders– Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandra Ashwin.
Grade B: Bowlers– Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, while Batsman– Lokesh Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Wriddhiman Saha (also wicketkeeper) and all-rounder Yuvraj Singh.
Grade C: Batsman– Ambati Rayudu, Karun Nair, Mandeep Singh, Manish Pandey and Shikhar Dhawan. Bowlers- Amit Mishra, Ashish Nehra, Dhawal Kulkarni, Shardul Thakur and Yuzvendra Chahal. All-rounders – Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya, Jayant Yadav and Kedar Jadhav, while wicketkeeper Batsman include Rishabh Pant and Parthiv Patel.
The last Test played in February include: Virat Kohli, Murali Vijay, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Lokesh Rahul, Dinesh Kartik, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Parthiv Patel, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah.
The last ODI team included: Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Kedar Jadhav, Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, MS Dhoni, Dinesh Karthik, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Shardul Thakur.
The selection is done based on performance and this determines the hierarchy to be a part of the Indian cricket team roster.
